Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Review Strategic Cooperation under the ‘Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence’

Istanbul — Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), Hilal-e-Jurat, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), held important meetings with Türkiye’s senior military and political leadership during his official visit to the country.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meetings focused on matters of mutual interest, bilateral defence cooperation and the regional security situation.

Key Military and Diplomatic Engagements in Istanbul

Meeting with Saudi Defence Minister: Field Marshal Asim Munir held a special and detailed discussion with Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Meetings with Turkish leadership: He held separate high-level meetings with Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler.

Engagement with Turkish military leadership: The Army Chief also held discussions with Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu on professional military matters.

Trilateral Strategic Cooperation under the Makkah Agreement

During his visit, the Army Chief also participated in an important meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee established under the ‘Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence.’

The forum brought together Pakistan, Türkiye and brotherly Islamic country Saudi Arabia, where the three countries reviewed ways to further strengthen defence coordination, military cooperation and strategic partnership.

According to the spokesperson, the meetings reflect the deep fraternal ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, as well as their rapidly expanding trilateral defence and strategic cooperation.
